Hospitals breathed a sigh of relief. They would not be overwhelmed. Some doctors began to see more patients, again. People wanted to get tested. They wanted to find out if they already had the disease weeks earlier. They wanted to know if they carried it now. Meanwhile, students suffered through online classes and weird exams.
When can we open up? What's the first thing we are going to do?
Even opening up was still not so great. The risk felt high. The benefits seemed so incrementally minimal. We felt a sense of sadness.
